Tips on Relieving Sore Teeth When You Have Braces

Posted .

Are your teeth sore because Dr. E. Glenn Glassman just adjusted your braces? If so, there are things you can do to relieve that pain and dull the discomfort. To help you, we will be happy to share those tips and information with you.

First, rinse your mouth with warm water. The warmth can comfort your oral tissues and tooth nerves. Second, make sure to have a soft-foods diet. Eating hard foods can make the pain worse. It’s best to eat foods like yogurt, soup, mashed potatoes, etc. Third, take pain relievers, like ibuprofen and Tylenol, as necessary. This can dull the discomfort and reduce swelling. Fourth, chew as often as possible. Chewing can help your teeth quickly adjust to the new pressure. Fifth, call Orthocare Systems Orthodontics and schedule an appointment if the pain lasts longer than a few days.

Your soreness should subside in a short amount of time. This shouldn’t be something to worry about. However, you can always call our office at 314-739-8888 if you have any questions or concerns.
