Broken brackets can be inconvenient, annoying, and troublesome. However, there are things you can do to improve the situation and make the broken bracket a little less terrible. Those things are:

Step No. 1: Check the damage. Look to see if the bracket is still attached to the wire. If it is, leave it in place and cover it with orthodontic wax. This will keep it from sliding and also make it more comfortable for your cheeks and gums. If it’s not attached to the wire, remove it and bring it into the office with you.

Step No. 2: Take control of the situation. If the broken bracket made the wire protrude out of place, then clip the wire with some fingernail clippers. When you clip the wire, make sure to clip it as close to the bracket as possible. This will help you avoid injuring your cheeks, lips, and tongue.

Step No. 3: Make an appointment with your orthodontist, Dr. E. Glenn Glassman. The sooner you make an appointment, the sooner you’ll get back on track toward the beautiful and straight smile you desire. When you make an appointment, make sure you explain the situation so our team understands what is going on.

Doing these things can help you remain on track toward the straight and beautiful smile you deserve.
